What is Self-Care?
Self-care is about taking care of the most important person in your life - you. Women often pay attention to the needs of everyone else in their lives (e.g. children, partner, friends, co-workers, animals), but neglect themselves.
As caretakers, women tend to feel guilty and selfish about seizing self-care time. A woman’s self-care is not just important, but essential for well-being. Rather, at SASC we see self-care time as a refresher—when you feel rejuvenated and happy, you will be better able to support others.
Self-care can be anything you want it to be: anything that uplifts your mood, energizes you, and makes you fell better about yourself. So, whenever you feel scattered, upset, lonely, scared, angry...ask yourself: What is the most loving thing I can do for myself at this very moment?
Self-care could be:
♥ a bubble bath ♥ watching a movie ♥ a cup of tea ♥ having a nap
♥ a day away from the children ♥ journaling ♥ reading a book
♥ listening to music ♥ going out for a walk ♥ baking, cooking
♥ taking the phone off the hook ♥ making a collage
