Here are some ideas to get you started:
- Community Garage Sale – hold a garage sale and donate the proceeds. If you ask around you can get people to donate to your sale, and you may also be able to encourage neighbours to hold garage sales on the same day as well.
- Organize a walk/jog/dance/run to end sexual violence against women
- Book club
- Car Wash/Dog Wash
- Celebration Jar – every time you celebrate a birthday, other holiday or achievement, add a donation to the celebration jar.
- Guest Speaker Evenings – featuring amazing female leaders in the community.
- Hold a Competition – Charge admission or a registration fee (could be as simple as “pay what you can—suggested donation $10”) and give prizes. The competition can be anything fun.
Competition examples:
· Cook-off/Bake-off
· Paper Airplane Competition
· Thumb War Championship
· Rock-Paper-Scissors Championship
· Volleyball/Soccer/Baseball, etc. Championship
· Battle of the Bands
· Karaoke Battle - International Women’s Day – Hold a fundraising event to celebrate women all over the world on March 8th. The event could be an evening honouring women in your community, it could be a concert with local female artists, you could get a group of women together for dinner and get men involved as the chefs, waiters, and chauffeurs.
- Local Art and Craft Sale
- Neighbourhood Scavenger Hunt – You could sell tickets ahead of time or sell lunch with an outdoor BBQ afterward.
- Service Auction – Find people with skills they are willing to donate and auction them off in your community, organization, or workplace. This can be part of a dinner, talent night or other event. Every community is filled with people who have special skills to offer.
Service examples:
· 4 hours of yard work (raking leaves, weeding, mowing the lawn)

· 1 hour of dog walking for a week - Spend a Night In with Friends – Hold an event with your friends where you stay in and donate the amount of money you would have spent on a night out. You could have a movie night, dinner party, pyjama party, karaoke night, a relaxing evening with meditation or yoga, be as creative as you like!
- Talent Night – Get your friends, group, co-workers together and organize a talent night. You can sell tickets or ask for donations.
To enhance the event you could:
· Host a dinner before the show (something like lasagne is always easy and economical)
· Include refreshments or desserts
· Have a dessert auction
· Include door prizes
- Workshops – is there always something you’ve wanted to learn how to do? Find someone in the community willing to volunteer their time to lead a workshop and collect donations.
Workshop examples:
